5 Fun Things to Do in Reston this Summer

Welcome sunny days! Restonians are lucky – there is so much to do right here in town. Here are five things to try this summer.

Get Your Veg On

The Reston Farmer’s Market is open every Saturday from 8 am to noon through December 7. The market offers items grown and made by farmers and producers who are local to the area. Stop by and get fresh vegetables, baked goods and more. Take time to say hi to your neighbors at this weekly local gathering!

Go Swimming

Make it a family fun day at the Water Mine Family Swimmin’ Hole. This family water park has something for all ages. There is more than an acre of slides, flumes, sprays, showers, floatables, and an interactive water playground. Tenderfoot Pond is designed to give toddlers a perfect place to play. Older kids gravitate to Boomtown, a multi-level water playground. Teenagers can join a game of water volleyball and enjoy the more adventurous slides. Everyone will enjoy going with the flow in a tube on Rattlesnake River.

Check Out Some Free Performances

The Reston Town Square Park Summer Series offers free children’s entertainment! Great for all ages, the summer schedule includes family favorite performers. This summer there will comedy, music, magicians and more. There is something for everyone.

Sip Some Local Suds

For some adult summer fun, visit Lake Anne Brew House. They make small-batch, hand-crafted beer right here in historic Lake Anne Village Center Plaza. Enjoy award winning beers in a Mid-Century Modern-themed taproom.  There are special events planned throughout the summer.

Read a Good Book

Check out some books this summer. The Reston Regional Library is one of the busiest branches in the Fairfax County Public Library system. For children, there is a separate wing with everything from board books for infants to chapter books for school-age readers, as well as special programs and a full-service children’s information desk.
