If you are thinking of selling your home this year, the time to start planning for the spring real estate market starts now.
Start the Groundwork to Sell Your Home
Spring may seem far away, but time goes by quickly. Start laying the groundwork for the sale of your home sooner rather than later.
Research real estate agents to find who best suits your needs and has the experience and expertise to guide you through your home sale process.
Have a detailed conversation with your real estate agent.
- Determine your listing price and the potential date to place your home on the market.
- Discuss any contingencies on the sale of your home.
- Outline any personal property you will include in the sale (washer, dryer, draperies).
- Define what expenses you will pay.
Gather your paperwork. Paperwork to provide to your real estate agent can include mortgage, loan, property appraisal, tax assessments or easements, or property tax documents, as well as inspection paperwork such as termite, well and/or septic inspections. Also, if possible, provide HOA documents such as the HOA bylaws and association fees, and any warranties or manuals.
Prepare Your Home
Look at your home and make a list of any items that may need repair or that need a maintenance check, and then schedule any work that needs to be completed. Your real estate agent should be able to refer you to qualified, dependable contractors for any work you may need done.
