Which Improvements Are “Worth it”?

If you’re starting to think about selling your house, or trying to decide on which upgrades to prioritize, we’re here to help! Not all upgrades are created equal! Deciding what to spend your money on starts with deciding why you’re doing the project in the first place. Are you getting ready to list your house and make it show-ready? Or are you planning to stay a few more years and enjoy the upgrades yourself?

If you’re not ready to sell, then prioritize the upgrades that you’ll most enjoy! If it’s not your forever home, the important thing to keep in mind is to try not to go “too” personal. Make design decisions that appeal to a broad audience (i.e. white cabinets instead of red!). If you’re ready to get on the market and list your home, the emphasis should be on creating a neutral, move-in-ready atmosphere.

With that in mind, we generally recommend prioritizing…

  • Paint
  • Carpet
  • Minor Kitchen/Bath Updates (knobs, faucets, lights & mirrors, hardware, etc)
  • Tidying Landscaping/Curb Appeal
